Sherrif

Sheriff Peter Gonzalez
Undersheriff John Weiss

The Sheriff's Office is responsible for over 1,300 square miles and serves a population of approximately 40,000 at the peak of our season.
Our jurisdiction ranges from the base of the beautiful Wolf Creek Mountain to the equally beautiful valley of Bayfield, from the Weminuche Wilderness on to the New Mexico state line. Sheriff Peter Gonzalez, Undersheriff John Weiss and the entire Staff are proud of the service we deliver. We encourage feedback to ensure our services remain the best in the country.
