The
County
of
Archuleta
embodies an
area of approximately 1300 square miles and a population of almost 12,000. The
Archuleta County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division provides uniformed law
enforcement services, 24 hours a day, to all the residents in the unincorporated areas of the
County.
The vanguard of the Sheriff’s Office, the men and women assigned to the Patrol Division, perform the most visible and recognizable functions of our agency. They are the ones that respond to your calls for assistance. You will find them in your neighborhoods behind the wheel of a patrol car, looking for a lost child, comforting the victim of a crime, or assisting other emergency service agencies.
- In 2008, 4649 calls for service were handled resulting in 799 cases and 606 arrests.
- In 2007, 4837 calls for service were handled resulting in 833 cases and 577 arrests.
Deputies assigned to the unincorporated Patrol Services Division respond to over
1000 citizen-generated calls for service and Deputy-initiated events per year.
The responsiblities of the Patrol Deputies include:

Investigating and completing crime
reports
- Conduct follow-up investigation on
assigned cases
- Deter criminal activity by providing uniformed police visibility
- Patrol the
neighborhoods/businesses to prevent crime
- Provide mutual assistance and
promote communications between members of the other law enforcement
agencies
