Early Voting
About Early Voting
Early voting is different now.  It is open so voters may register to vote, update their voter registration and/or vote in person.

Availability
In accordance with Colorado statutes, Early Voting is now available for all Archuleta County elections. All Archuleta County elections will be held by mail ballot elections so the procedures allowed during Early Voting are a little different from the past.

We won’t have Vote Centers; we will have a Voter Service & Polling Center will be located in the Election’s Office in the basement of the Archuleta County courthouse. This is where the Early Voting processes will take place. The office hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning June 16, 2014 for the Primary and beginning October 20, 2014 for the General Election. We must open the Saturday prior to each election now also.  So prior to the Primary Election we will be open from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 21, 2014 and for the General Election, Saturday, November 1, 2014.

Eligible electors who appear in person at a Voter Service & Polling Center for Early Voting have two options. You may bring your mail ballot you received into the office for voting or you may apply for a replacement ballot if you lost, spoiled or did not receive your mail ballot. Your replacement may be either another mail ballot or an Early Voting ballot which you vote and immediately insert into the tabulation system as in the past.

Your second option is to surrender your mail ballot and choose to either take out another mail ballot or Early Vote on a paper ballot and immediately inserting it into the tabulation system. These two processes are basically the same the names have changed.

What has changed too is the fact you may register to vote the days the office is open for Early Voting. There is no “last day of registration”.

In order to accomplish any process at the Voter Service & Polling Center you will need to provide one of the acceptable forms of identification. If you do not have acceptable ID, you will be allowed to vote a Provisional Ballot like we have in the past.
