THERE ARE SEPARATE CONTAINERS FOR
ALUMINUM AND TIN CANS AT THE
PAGOSA TRANSFER STATION
Aluminum Cans being recycled in Archuleta County are supporting the "Archuleta County Environmental Awareness Scholarship" program. This material is transported to Kirtland, New Mexico and sold. All revenue received is deposited into a Scholarship Escrow account. Each year a graduating senior from Pagosa Springs High School is awarded this scholarship upon recommendation from the high school staff and selected by a committee consisting of local community leaders.
Every cent received from the sale of these cans donated by the community, go directly back to the community in the form of this scholarship. Tin Cans collected are transported to the Durango Recycling Center. There is no special requirement for the deposit of these cans. If you have any question as to whether a can is recyclable, try the magnet test. If a magnet will stick to the can, recycle it.
It is not necessary to clean or crush any of these cans before recycling. Please do not mix the two types of cans.
