In an emergency, dial 911. An emergency is any situation that requires immediate assistance from law enforcement, the fire department or an ambulance.
This is dependent on a lot of factors. To be sure we are sending help to the right location, 911 call takers will ask for your address and phone number, every time. They will also ask additional questions to assist responding units. These questions do not slow down response times and may include:
The call-taker’s questions are important to get the right kind of help to you as quickly as possible. Be prepared to follow any instructions the call-taker gives you.
Thanks to La Plata Electric Association’s automated metering infrastructure, they usually know you have an outage as soon as you do. As such, there is no special action you need to take to report your outage. You DO still need to report your outage if you have opted out of this infrastructure. Call LPEA anytime, day or night, at 970-247-5786, and select option “5” on the upfront menu to report.
