Emergency Management / Search & Rescue
The Emergency Operation Center (EOC) serves all of Archuleta County and assists Hinsdale and Mineral Counties with emergency management and coordination in the southern portions of their counties. We are responsible for the following areas:
• Emergency Management
Coordinate, Respond, Recover, Mitigate, and Plan for large emergencies and incidents in Archuleta County. We provide for protection of life, health, safety, welfare, and property of the public and community; as well as assist community members in solving problems related to emergency management. The EOC also coordinates multiple trainings for the county.
• Multi-agency Coordination
This is the combination of personnel, facilities, equipment, procedures, and communications integrated into a common system. When activated, the Multi-agency Coordination (MAC) System has the responsibility for the coordination of assisting agency resources and support in a multi-agency or multi-jurisdictional environment. Archuleta County has a MAC meeting once a month.
• Joint Information Coordination
A Joint Information System (JIS) provides the mechanism to organize, integrate, and coordinate information to ensure timely, accurate, accessible, and consistent messaging across multiple jurisdictions and/or disciplines with non-governmental organizations and the private sector. A JIS includes the plans, protocols, procedures, and structures used to provide public information. Federal, State, tribal, territorial, regional, or local Public Information Officers and established Joint Information Centers (JICs) are critical supporting elements of the JIS. Archuleta office of Emergency management has recently started up a JIC and will continue to meet every few months to stay updated.
• Resource Management
It is the efficient and effective deployment for an organization's resources when they are needed.
• Incident Management
If an incident becomes complex, additional resources are brought in to address the emergency, and higher levels of management training and capability are required
